You’re probably thinking well, you’re Indian, so you gotta love India . Here’s the thing. I have lived in America and in Australia and while I loved both places there’s something about Home that is just irreplaceable. As much as our country is known for our amazing cuisine and our rich history I realised that there are 3 things that I especially love about this beautiful nation of mine.
Tough as nails
I love how our country and it’s people are incredibly resilient and hardy in the face of upheaval and mayhem. Be it a natural calamity, communal riots or a political gridlock our people will rally round, help each other and pick up the pieces if need be.
Colours galore
Have you seen the difference between a Hollywood movie and one of our Indian flicks. Right from the colours of the actors clothing to the colours of the streets and the roofs of our otherwise grimy streets make Indian cinema, well, Indian cinema. I have found that those colours permeate into people’s lives here too. From my house maid to the grocer, my parlour lady to the butcher, they have so much of life experience and a wealth of experience and life to share with me. They make up the beautiful tapestry that is my life and without them my life would be drab and colourless so to speak.
We have not arrived yet
This for me is most exciting ! You know how India is called a developing country, which to me just sounds like condescension. So anyway, condescension aside, this country of ours in its still to develop form is just full of opportunities. As big as the needs are in our country there is no dearth for talent, ability, manpower and skill in this beautiful land. Problem solvers, risk takers, out of the box thinkers and innovators are galore and are entering every space available and changing the landscape of India like never before.
We may not have arrived yet but we are moving ahead full steam.
I urge you who are reading this blog to revisit your feelings for this great land of ours. Read up on our amazing history, teach it to your kids (if you have any) and instead of taking the easy way out and complaining, find beauty in all that's around you. You will be surprised at what you discover!
JAI HO !
