Ever stood in front of your mirror doing your eye makeup and absolutely content with what you see. Reasonably clear skin, shapely eyebrows and what not. Then you turn on the lights above your dresser only to be shocked at the sun spots, the lines, wrinkles, uneven eye brows and.. okay you get the idea. It's amazing the difference a sharp bright light can make. Light searches for darkness to penetrate and irradiate it. In the absence of light darkness can feel overwhelmingly real. It can feel like a palpable presence around you intimidating and threatening to overtake you. The world we live in at present seems almost overrun with darkness. A darkness where killing is done for sport, sex is used to suppress and dominate, children die as collateral damage in a war that is unwarranted, religion and faith divide people and the value of a life is negligible.
But wait, there's good news. If it's light that the world needs then there's plenty of that as well.
Present in the here and now.
Present in our every day lives.
Present in the things that we are passionate about.
Present with those we love and those we don't know yet.
Present and ready to step up to the plate when we need to.
We don't know when we could get the chance to bring light in to someone's life but by virtue of just being present and ready
(to maybe step outside our comfort zone)
we could maybe,
just maybe,
be that brilliant ray of unfiltered,
